Beach Ball Blast

This super fun activity involves throwing a beach ball in the air and improving letter and word recognition in the process!Letter Knowledge, Vocabulary3 years to 5 yearsA beach ball and a markerTo get this activity off the ground, we will only need a few things, most notably, a beach ball and a marker. Using the marker, write a bunch of different letters all over the beach ball. Once the ball is ready, let your little one toss it as high in the air as they can! If I had to venture a guess, I would say that they are going to absolutely love this part. Then, they can try to catch the ball! If they are able to get a hold of it, they can read the letters that are touching both of their thumbs. If the ball slips past their grasp this time, they can pick it up from the ground after it lands and read the letters that are touching their thumbs as they pick it up. To enhance their vocabulary development, your child can name a word that starts with each of the letters that they just read out loud. Also, if you would like to get involved in the game as well, you could toss the ball back and forth with them. You could also have them read the letters that are touching your thumbs when you catch the ball! You may need to change this one up a bit in order to best meet the needs of your child! If your little one is already very familiar with the letters of the alphabet, then you could write full words on the beach ball instead. Including a handful of words that they are already familiar with as well as words which they don't know that well yet might prove to be very effective in building new vocabulary while reinforcing existing word knowledge.https://www.playdoughtoplato.com/alphabet-ball/
