Target Practice

This quick, easy, and super playful soccer-themed activity is perfect for enhancing your little one's letter knowledge or vocabulary.Letter Knowledge, Vocabulary3 years to 5 yearsPlastic cups, a ball, and a markerTo start, please grab some plastic cups (we recommend getting 7 to 8 of them), any kind of soft small ball, as well as a marker (or something else that would write well on the cups). Write a different letter from the alphabet on each cup and arrange the cups in a straight line, with each cup being around 6 inches away from the others. A gap is left between each cup so that when your little one kicks the ball towards one cup, other cups don't get knocked down with it. Depending on the size of your ball, you may have to space the cups out a bit more. Place the ball some distance away from the line of cups and have your child kick the ball to knock over one of the cups. When kicking, your child should see a horizontal line of cups in front of them. Then, have your child grab the cup that they knocked over and read the letter that's written on it. To add a bit more fun, you could also place a cup in front of a small soccer net and have them kick it in, just like a penalty kick!If your little one is already quite comfortable with the letters of the alphabet, you could write vocabulary words on the cups instead. Writing a mix of words that your child isn't yet very familiar with as well as words that they already know well can prove to be effective in stretching the limits of their vocabulary without being too much of a challenge for them. Also, if you have a small basketball hoop, cups could be thrown into it instead of being kicked. What's more, the ball could also be bowled towards the cups as opposed to being kicked.https://funlearningforkids.com/ball-theme-alphabet-activity-kick-the-cup/
